Chronic Stress
Feeling stressed occasionally is perfectly natural. It is when it is intense or prolonged that it can have a negative effect on your physical and mental health.
The hormones which are released when you are under chronic stress can become toxic over time and may affect your sleep and digestion and damage your cardiovascular and immune systems. Long term stress can also cause anxiety and unwanted phobias and habits, such as smoking, alcohol or drug abuse. Once stress or anxiety starts interfering in your daily life, it is time to seek help.
Hypnotherapy helps you to manage stress through the the use of relaxation, breathing techniques, visualisation and suggestion and emposers you to take back control over your life.
Unwanted Habits
Unwanted habits often start from an early age and, over time, get so deeply embedded in our subconscious that they become automatic. We pick up that cake, cigarette or bite our nails without even realising until it is too late.
It is usually when we are feeling bored, stressed or insecure that the unwanted habit kicks in, as it can provide us with comfort, satisfaction or a release from tension.
If a habit is interfering in your life, affecting your health or relationships, then hypnotherapy can replace it with more positive behaviour and help you to take back control.
Chronic Pain
Pain that lasts longer than 6 months is called chronic pain. It is debilitating, disabling and can cause stress and anxiety as well as lack of sleep. At the same time anxiety, tension or depression can make your perception of chronic pain worse.
People react differently to pain and this can result in impatience from others or unhelpful comparisons to how other people might be coping with the same condition. This can prevent you from seeking effective treatment.
Hypnotherapy can help you to get better management of chronic pain through the use of suggestion, visualisation, distraction and reframing.
Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for conventional medical treatment.
Sleep problems
Getting sufficient and good quality sleep is important for our general health and mental well being. It is while we are asleep that our brain is able to carry out important functions relating to memory and healing. Waking refreshed results in better concentration and decision making.
Sleep difficulties might mean trouble falling asleep or waking in the night and not being able to go back to sleep or, for some people, sleeping too much.
Hynpotherapy can help through relaxation and visualisation, reducing any anxiety as well as encouraging a healthy sleep routine.
If you suffer from a sleep disorder it is important to consult with your doctor before using hypnotherapy, to rule out any underlying medical problem.
